It’s been a new wonderful part of my day to write a prayer every day. If you want to read the background story on why and how I felt called to write a prayer each day then you can read this previous blog post.
Here’s a round-up of all the prayers for August in one place. Please feel free to share these. We trust the Holy Spirit is doing His thing and drawing people to the prayers that might be an agency of grace to them. We’ll just keep perspiring and doing what we believe we are being called to do and leave the rest in much better hands their own.
To share an intention you’d like our prayer ministers to hold in our hearts and prayer for you or someone you love please go to our Daily Prayer page and scroll past the current month’s prayer to find the form.
Father Source of Love, Jesus Shepherd of Love, and Beautiful Spirit Inciter of Love receive our humble prayers of gratitude. We eagerly await our callings to step into the situations you will allow and present to us to be conveyers of your Goodness.
Stoke in us new fires of fervent devotion. Give us your eyes Jesus that pierces the emptiness of every earthen vessel. Fill the awaiting thirsty receptacles of our lives with your transformative healing waters.
Jesus allow your wisdom to seize the moments on our paths.
Father exchange the moments of hurt, the stumbles of our weaknesses, the cries for help, the agonies of our quiet despair, and the crippling bondage of our confusions into opportunities for your Love to seize souls desperate for you.
Holy Spirit in concert with all the angles and saints grant us courage in advancing our Lord’s Love with every thought, word, action, intention, and inaction.
Lord please grant us the Grace we need to be your torches of fire. Fill them with the endless abundance of your Sacred Oil that we might cast Your burning Light of Hope into the darkest and most impossible places. Then Lord, help us to humbly recognize where and when you have used your Fire in our hearts and spirits to do your work. Give us shouts of praise, adoration, and gratitude that reach to the heavenlies to give Honor to your Endless Glory of Love. In Christ’s name we pray. AMEN.
The Word/Image: Lesions
Father, Molder of our lives, Jesus, Healer of every hurt, and Spirit, Breath of our body fill us with your Goodness. We bring You our festering wounds. From the brokenness we invite into our lives by turning our back on You, to the physical ills plaguing our world, we are desperate for your touch. Jesus, please draw us to You like the faithful leper. Encourage us to outstretch our hand to You in complete faith. Grant us trust to abandon ourselves completely to You. Father conform every disorder disrupting the flow of Your Love. Send forth your Spirit to shake the foundation of our hearts. May these tabernacles for Your Son burst with riches of healing prayers, words and actions to be Your agencies of Hope for others. Show us how to be the hands that bind the wounds and salve to soothe the pains of our brothers and sisters with Your Peace. Thank you for attending to our needs and hearing our cries for help. We love You, we adore You, and we praise Your name for ever. AMEN
The Word/Image: Dove & Peace
Father who hides us in the shadow of your wings, Christ who free us from every snare, and Holy Spirit who brings us gusts of Love to lift us up, take pity on our discord. We are drowning in a ruckus of alienating accusations. We have become blinded by rage with the splinters in others’ eyes while failing to see the wood beams in our own. Please fuse our serpent like split tongues that are quick to spew toxic words. Beautiful Trinity consume us with heavenly Grace. Melt every frozen, hardened heart with your everlasting Light. Grant us Your Peace and let us become like pure white doves spreading your Good News to every soul prepared to make room for you. AMEN
The Word/Image: Shattered House
Father Builder of our World, Jesus Architect of our hearts, and Holy Spirit decorator of our souls, excavate the shattered shambles of our dwellings. Find all of the raw materials to rebuild us into new creations. Strengthen our foundations with the sweetness and Truth of Your Word. Give us pause to bring You anything that threatens the stability of our Life in You. We lift up our Brothers and Sisters who are struggling to live in the rubble created by our callous and selfish ways. We ask for Your Mercy. Ask Your angels and the Communion of Saints to pour out their libations of prayers to give us the resolve to rebuild our shattered houses. May new windows bring a flood of Your Brilliant Light to shine Your Wisdom on all of our affairs. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. AMEN
The Word/Image: Baptism
Father Fount of All Love, Jesus Living Water, and Spirit of Tender Mercy gather your children together. We are born stained with ancient blemishes of pride and selfishness. Grant us the Gift of your cleansing Word. Call us by name, and please remind us that our hearts, minds, souls, and bodies we belong to You and only You. Your Church’s Mystical Body delights in every soul added to it. Show us how to confirm and keep each other on the path that leads to You. We lift up our voices with Alleluias to enforce the chorus of heavenly protectors covering us in prayers for our journey. Grant us our daily Bread of desire to nourish our souls with Your Son’s Endless Mercy. Dress today and every day in white robes and with Your Spirit anoint our foreheads with Fragrant oil to calm our nervous hearts. We commend these hope to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN
The Word/Image: Memorial of the Queenship of Mary
Note to our Christian brothers and sisters: Mary was born without original sin in order to be the tabernacle of the incarnation of God in the Trinitarian expression of Jesus Christ. When she dies, Mary is assumed into heaven and is immediately granted the full beatific vision (coming into the Presence of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in their full Glory). Her body, without original sin is granted immediate immortality just as we will all receive after the final judgment at the end of time. Her crown of Glory is our precursor – paving the way and showing us the fulfillment of God’s Word in scripture that we will one day be washed perfectly clean and made imperishable in the Blood of the Lamb.
Father of Might, Jesus, King of Glory, and Spirit of Flowing Love, thank you for choosing Mary to be your servant of your incarnation. Help us to become more like Mary; ready and willing to humbly say, “Yes,” to all you ask of us. Blessed Mother you are the purveyor of Your Son’s Kingdom. You wish every heart, mind, soul, and body to seek Jesus Love and Mercy above all other things. Cast your Mantle of sweet prayers over your children. Guide us to become citizens of heaven by entering the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We gather around your feet to deepen our life of prayer and humble service to one another. You have tasted and seen the Infinite Glory of the Holy Trinity. Along with all the angels and saints, invoke your privilege of clemency to safeguard our journey in to the mystery of Jesus Christ. The pace of our run is quickening and we need every heavenly prayer we can get. Thank you for hearing us, pray for us now and at the hours of our death. AMEN
The Word/Image: Be Still
Father of Divine Silence, Jesus Master of our Storms, and Spirit Refuge of Peace, teach us how to enter into your Holy Presence. Please quiet our racing minds and anxious hearts. Help us to step with confidence into the quiet space of Holy Listening. Suspend our self-directed plans, untangle our attachments to anything that distracts us from You, assuage our fears, and guide us in discerning Your Will. Show us how to settle the distracting movements of our hearts, minds, and spirits. Please grant us stillness to enter into Your Presence. Fortify us with humility that we might always be prepared to be surprised by the Mystery of how you wish to speak to us and teach us in the Ways of Your Truth and Life. Be our All in All so that every discordant noise in our lives dissolves into a Glorious Symphony of Your Silent Love. We seek this space of prayerful stillness full of awe, and wonder of your Infinite Beauty. In Christ we are Yours. AMEN
The Word/Image: Give Glory
Our Father in Heaven, Jesus King of Glory, and Spirit of Praise take possession of our hearts, minds, souls, and bodies. Open the eternal gates that veil You from our world. Give us the opportunity to raise our voices in thunderous praise and let it rise like infinite incense to Your Throne. We wish to commit our lives to You. Empty us of everything that impedes Jesus’ Spirit from dwelling in us. Make us new creations in Christ that we might become better reflections of Your Endless Love. We wish to sing and dance with boundless joy like Miriam* in the freedom of living as Your adopted sons and daughters. To God be praise and Glory. Let Your Son’s Spirit in us create Sacred Fires of souls united in one purpose: to Love and Serve You, and each other, in all we think, say, and do both now and forever. For thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and Glory forever. AMEN
*20 Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. 21 Miriam sang… (Exodus 15: 20-21)
The Word/Image: Perpetual
Father Keeper of All Things in Motion, Jesus our Tireless Shepherd, and Holy Spirit Animator of Life please give us the desire to live lives of perpetual prayer. Corral the movements of our wayward minds, and the desires of our voracious appetites, into ever new expressions of prayer directed at seeking You and serving You. Help us Father to faithfully entrust Jesus as the Conductor of our locomotion and embrace Your Spirit as the Orchestrator of all our thoughts, words, and actions. Whether we are conscious of it or not, gently rework the patterns of our habits into ones that are aligned with You and Your Will for us. Lord we believe that with You at the center of all our comings and goings we can embody the prayers you engrave on our hearts and spirits. We praise and thank you for Your Seal of Goodness and place all our Trust in You. In Christ we pray. AMEN
The Word/Image: Bond
Father our Creator and Connector, Jesus our Purpose and Wisdom, and Spirit our Imagination and Compassion, bind us to You. Loosen our dependency on things that take our eyes off You. Remove every diversion and distraction that is not in harmony with Your Plans for us. Grant us every Grace we need to recognize our failings. We place all of our liabilities in Your Hands. We are confident that You will transform our failings into new blessings. We lift up our hearts in prayers of praise and gratitude. Please yank away our carefully constructed facades that try to cover our soul’s magnetic draw to You. Father, through the Power and Movement of Your Spirit, please increase our desire to enter more deeply into the Sacred Heart of Jesus. May our bond in Christ be the source of our goodness, and the impetus for all of our actions. Show us to how to connect to one another, and serve each through, our Communion in the Body of Christ. All Glory and Power are Yours now and Forever. AMEN
Word/Image: Capture
Father Sea of Love, Jesus Fisher of Men, and Spirit Creator of Unity and Peace, cull the tempestuous waters of our lives. Let not one of us slip through Your clasping Arms. Capture the pleasing intimations of ours hearts and turn these humble, meek potentialities into prayers and actions that bring great blessings and graces to our brothers and sisters. We are One in Your Body as we are One in the Lord. Fill us with Your brimming bursting Hope. Oh, Father please enmesh us in the fabric of your nets. Jesus multiply our efforts to hook others onto Your Mercy and Joy. And Holy Spirit show us how to grow in wonder of Your Shiny, Shimmering, Glory reflecting off of all the people in our catch. We invoke the Sacred Heart of our Blessed Mother to join us in amplifying our prayers for Mercy for each other and for all the hardships our brothers and sisters are facing during these times. We join the angels in lifting up ceaseless songs of praise from our hearts. We ask all these things with great love and confidence in the Name Above all other Names. AMEN
Word/Image: Rise
Father of Might, Jesus Leaven of our Souls, and Spirit Agency of Mercy, we place ourselves in Your Hands. Help us to become supple and submit ourselves to Your kneading work. Shape and form us in ways that conform to Your molds of Love. We feel the gravity of our choices that hold us back from better knowing You. We acknowledge the limits of our strength. We surrender our wills to Your Divine Word. Father we place our hope in rising from sin and death into New Life. Lavish us in the Hope and Peace of Jesus, and send forth Your Spirit to grant us a taste of eternal Joy. As we grow in Your Graces may we become better good and loyal servants intent on multiplying the sweetness of Your Word made flesh in us with all of our brothers and sisters. We make these prayers in the Name of the Jesus who we know we will rise with on the last day. AMEN
Word/Image: Foggy
Father Keeper of the Plan, Jesus the Eye of our Storms, and Holy Spirit, Mediator of Our Exigencies, hear our cries for help. The coastal banks of our challenges are shrouded in thick marine fog. We are struggling to see our path forward and the damp, whipping air around us is causing us to lose our footing. Even when we succeed in ducking inside some temporary shelter we are left with the hazy uncertainty of our minds stuck in self-defeating loops of despair. Redirect our dirges of self-pity into rousing hymns of trust. Grant us clear compassionate prayers of charity for our brother and sisters that face intense trials and tribulations barreling down into the center of their lives. Please focus the intents of our hearts. Father, guide us in being Your consolations to others. Jesus, fill us with Your Wisdom. And Beautiful Spirit, inspire our sacred creative imaginations to become the actions of Your Prayers. We unite ourselves in You, confident in Your Eternal Refuge. AMEN
Word/Image: Fertile
Father Sower of Life, Jesus King of the Harvest, and Spirit Fruits of Love’s Labor, survey the fields of our lives. Plant Your Seeds of Wisdom in our fallow hearts. Teach us to use the gifts of our minds to weed out all those things that might rob us of your Son’s Light. Grant us a steady hand on our plough as we prepare our lives to receive more of You. Father we are ripe for the fertilizer of Your Mercy. Show us how to make more room for Jesus in our daily routines. Send forth Your Spirit to increase the urgency and volume of our soul’s inhalations. You promise Your laborer’s rest and rewards. Make our desire to please You and the Grace of Your Will to do so. Please produce a bounty of blessings that create a Feast of Your Love. Oh Holy Trinity, make every soul You have created burst forth with infinite life in a ceaseless harvest of eternal Glory. For as it was in the beginning, it is now and ever shall be, world without end. AMEN
Word/Image: Send Forth – Dandelion
Father, of our Garden, Jesus, the Rose in our hearts, and Spirit, Sweet Fragrance of Possibilities center us on our callings. We celebrate the Beauty of the Order You create all around us. Draw us deeper into hidden mysteries of Your Love at work in the smallest details. We know that we are like whimsical, fragile, and stubborn dandelion weeds yet, You treat us like Your Son; a Royal Majestic Rose. Keep us from hindering and interrupting the growth of all Your flowering things. Father, we thank you for seeing past our incomplete natures and beholding us as righteous adopted children of Your Kingdom. Jesus, please come to our sides and bring the Breath of Your Spirit. Send aloft our dandelion flowers to impregnate barren fields. May what we germinate from our imperfect state be eventually transformed into Your Perfect Heavenly Vision. Oh God, see everything You have made as imbued with Your Goodness and let nothing be lost. We give Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit now and forever. AMEN
